In 1959, America was ready for a change ... but not a total change! The obverse of the familiar Lincoln Cent was retained, but a new reverse was created, depicting the Lincoln Memorial, which is found near the Washington Monument. Even these later date coins are becoming quite scarce. Fill out your set while the coins are available and affordable. With the Lincoln cent completing a 100-year run, the year 2009 saw a new design for the cent. We now have the new Lincoln Cent Shield design, first issued in 2010.
